What do I need for myself?
Basically the question arises. "What do I do on vacation? Do I just go on a beach vacation, trekking, surfing, diving, adventure? That's what my luggage should be based on. And don't forget, you can buy a lot in Madagascar. Most of the time you always take too much with you.
What do I really need for myself?
Do I really need 5 pairs of pants, 14 dresses or even 3 pairs of shoes if I'm just going on a beach vacation. It's never below 20 degrees in Nosy Be, so do I really need 10 pairs of thick socks and a thick jacket? You need this in the highlands, but can I get there?
What do I definitely take with me to Madagascar?
When traveling to the main island of Madagascar (centre, highlands and Antananarivo, Isalo, Ambositra):
It may make sense to pack warmer clothing for the evening hours. Depending on the time of year, it can get quite chilly there. Light-colored, long-sleeved clothing should be preferred as additional mosquito protection.
Possibly also sturdy footwear, rain protection, trekking trousers and trekking shoes.
Since the power often goes out in the country in the evenings, it can be useful to take a flashlight or headlamp with you.
When traveling to Nosy Be: (Never below 20 degrees Celsius)
Light clothing for warm weather, thin sweater, jacket or hoody for the evening breeze. Depending on the time of travel, also a light raincoat. Otherwise sandals, light sneakers, bathing shoes, sunglasses, swimsuit, swimming trunks, sunscreen, spray against mosquitoes, sun hat or cap.
For children:
Please protect small children especially from the sun. This is particularly intense for us. Caps and a light T-shirt are highly recommended, even on the beach. Don't forget to apply cream to your child constantly.
